The Cost Of... A series
Human beings have a strange relationship with certainty.
We spend our lives trying to understand ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Sometimes we succeed. More often, we become very confident about things that deserve a little more doubt.
This series isn’t a collection of answers. If anything, it’s an excuse to ask uncomfortable questions. The kind that don’t fit neatly into conversations, and certainly not into thirty second clips.
Some observations may feel familiar. Others may be difficult to agree with. That’s perfectly fine. An essay doesn’t have to be right to be worth thinking about.
These are simply reflections on ordinary parts of life that become surprisingly complicated the moment you stop taking them for granted.
So read slowly.
Disagree where you must.
Question what you can.
And if you leave with more questions than you arrived with, perhaps the pages have done their job.
A note on AI
These essays were written by me with AI used as an editorial collaborator. It helped refine language, improve structure, and challenge weak arguments, but the perspective, ideas, and final editorial decisions are my own.
In other words, the thoughts are mine. The proofreading just happens to be faster than asking a friend.
